Ian Daffern
Writer/Producer
Hi I'm Ian Daffern, producer of the IDFACTORY
The idFactory is a video production company for publishers, broadcasters and digital agencies that are looking to create the maximum excitement and awareness of their story online.
While our current specialty is in online; we come from ten years experience writing and producing, interviews, commercials and documentaries for broadcast, the web and even interactive installations. The services we offer include complete concept development, story production, scriptwriting and full-post-production. We're here to create stories that make you feel, capture the essence of the thing, and get the word out to those who want to know.
Sometimes it's with comedy. Sometimes it's through compelling interviews. Sometimes it's with the thrills and suspense. Whatever the technique, our goal is to use the power of story to connect people, inspire wonder and to sometimes, make them change their point of view. What more could you ask for?
About me: for the last decade I've worked as a journalist and producer covering stories about books, arts, culture and technology. My documentary about James Joyce, Bloom is a Cod! The Bloomsday Centenary, which aired on Bravo was called "one outstanding party" and "pure pleasure" by the Globe and Mail. I've also worked as investigative reporter on a gemini-nominated season of Vision TV's current affairs program 360 Vision, worked as producer and concept developer for interactive installations at the Royal Ontario Museum. As an independent producer for commercials and documentaries, my clients have included Random House Canada, Allard Johnson Communications, Penguin Books, Simon & Schuster and Open Book Toronto.
Current projects include the ongoing video podcast for Search Engine video podcast with Jesse Brown that appears on TVOntario, as well as the Cooking The Edible City series on Open Book Toronto.
